Issue 33 — July 2008

The issue brings together established and emerging contributors in a deliberately heterogeneous sequence. Its poems move between compressed lyrics, documentary fragments, visual arrangements, comic procedures, political collage, and extended works built from repetition and found language.

Forms and voices

Issue 33 shows Shampoo’s range through sharply different formal methods. Geof Huth’s contribution from Longfellow Memoranda works through visual compression and numbered fragments; Philip Metres uses collage and found-language pressure; Malaika King Albrecht builds a comic procedure around repetition; other contributors move through prose blocks, lyric sequences, miniature forms, and page-based experiments. The issue reads as a cross-section of contemporary poetic practice in 2008.
