Mathew Timmons is an experimental writer, editor, publisher, and interdisciplinary artist whose work spans poetry, collage, sound, performance, visual practice, and independent publishing. He is known for books and projects including The New Poetics, CREDIT, Joyful Noise: for Three or More Voices, Where is it Written?, After Darío, and the sound-poetry project The Archanoids. He also founded Insert Blanc Press in Los Angeles.
CREDIT and conceptual writing
CREDIT uses the language of bills, overdue notices, financial demands, and institutional communication as literary material. Timmons’s interest in such ready-made language places economic pressure, bureaucracy, and repetition inside the poem’s formal field. The project shows how impersonal documents can acquire rhythm and psychological force when rearranged within a literary frame.
Joyful Noise and sound
Joyful Noise: for Three or More Voices extends Timmons’s practice into vocal performance. His broader work includes solo and collaborative sound pieces, performances, and installations shown in literary and art settings. Voice becomes a compositional material alongside printed text, bringing timing, simultaneity, interruption, and collective reading into the work.
