Karyna McGlynn

Two Poems, Hothouse, and the Kate Bush Multiverse

Karyna McGlynn and Issue 20

Karyna McGlynn is a poet, writer, educator, performer, and visual artist. Her books from Sarabande include I Have to Go Back to 1994 and Kill a Girl, Hothouse, and 50 Things Kate Bush Taught Me about the Multiverse. Her work draws energy from performance, popular culture, dream logic, horror, music, girlhood, theatrical voice, and the unstable border between comedy and menace.

Issue 20 records McGlynn under the entry “2 Poems.” The surviving page preserves the author and entry title while the individual poem titles and texts are absent.

Books and performance

Hothouse was named a New York Times Editor’s Choice. 50 Things Kate Bush Taught Me about the Multiverse appeared in 2022 and became a finalist for a Lambda Literary Award. McGlynn’s earlier work also developed through poetry slam and live performance, bringing theatrical presence and shifting voice into close contact with the page.

Current literary record

The Poetry Foundation documents McGlynn’s three full-length poetry collections, chapbooks, awards, education, and work as an educator and visual artist. The Academy of American Poets includes 50 Things Kate Bush Taught Me about the Multiverse in its 2022 reading list.
