1. SHAMPOO is always open for submissions of previously unpublished work.
2. send poems to editor Del Ray Cross at delraycross@gmail.com.
3. please include the word “submission” in the subject line.
4. it is best to send no more than 5 to 8 pages of poetry.
5. it is best to send all poems in one Microsoft Word {.doc} or text {.rtf} file attachment. please
note that graphic files ({.pdf}, {.jpg}, etc.) are not encouraged unless the layout is impossible to
depict in a Microsoft Word document, in which case graphic files are by all means encouraged.
6. it is best not to send simultaneous submissions.
7. please do not become stressed if it is a few months before you hear back from the editor. for
your reference, at the time of this update, SHAMPOO has about a seven-month backlog
of submissions.
8. you are very much encouraged to send along shampoo bottle art for publication consideration.
9. please note that your sole and somewhat dizzy editor responds to all submissions and inquiries
in chronological order. therefore, if you send a follow-up query about a submission, it is very
unlikely there will be a response to that query. instead, you will receive a response to your
original submission. poetry submitted within the last eight months to which there has been no
response is still under consideration. if it has been longer than eight months, you can assume
that the editor unfortunately did not receive your submission. in which case the editor offers
his apologies.
10. please kindly refer to notes 6. and 9. and understand that if you send a simultaneous submission
in which some or all of the poems you sent to SHAMPOO are accepted elsewhere, and you send
this editor a note alerting him to the fact that the poems were accepted elsewhere, your overly
backlogged editor will probably never respond to the second note, but instead either accept or
decline the original poems. in which case the editor apologizes for any negative sensations
you might experience if you happen to be notified that your poetry could have been showcased
in SHAMPOO instead.
11. the editor humbly apologizes for the inordinate length of the SHAMPOO instructions and blows a
big kiss out to all of you who actually read and follow them.
12. by all means lather, rinse, and repeat.
