Wanda O’Connor – the architect and desire

Wanda O’Connor

the architect and desire

no human ever leaves. the wind is too      taken      or thick. to

break away.
mouths      and opened.
attempts, or       undulations.

we share. fits or fists. we share        and then.        the day
has a number.          or is long.

no room       to hide. pressed
into stale air.

we let our stomachs out.
suppress, or
subdue.               separate.

and your mother hollers to you. and you are watching television. and she is looking for
one shoe. and it is all       that she needs.

no human ever leaves.
