Are We There Yet?

Why
can’t we explain
why
looking at something
makes us cry?

Just by
looking at it.

As if everything
about it
would never be
touched again,
only seen.

L(OO)K.  The sea
is calm
and
my heart has
had another
hard day.

In Jail with the Moon

Why was the moon
jailed?

And why am I
in jail for asking
why?

In a cell with the moon
I sit.

The moon paces.
It orbits
nothing.

I ask the moon questions
and listen
for answers.

From the moon
comes the sound
of listening.

From the sound
of listening
comes the moon.

I see the moon escape
but hear
its capture.

Moonlessness
returns to my cell.

Cobwebs ring in
moonspun night.
